Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate how the effects of family emotional environment, which consisted of family communication, family¡¯s affective atmosphere, participation of family ritual and family conflict, were mediated by self-efficacy and problem-solving on children¡¯s academic achievement. Subject of this study consisted of 529 elementary school students (from 4th to 6th grade) drawn from 3 elementary schools in Cheong-ju city. The collected data were analysed by the frequency, percentage, Cronbach ¥á and correlation using SPSSWIN program. The theoretical model was tested separately according to children¡¯s gender and age using LISREL ¥· package. The result of this study implies that the effects of family emotional environment on the academic achievement of elementary school students mediated by self-efficacy and problem-solving be different according to children¡¯s gender and age.
