Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate how the effects of family emotional environment, which consisted of family communication, family’s affective atmosphere, participation of family ritual and family conflict, were mediated by self-efficacy and problem-solving on children’s academic achievement. Subject of this study consisted of 529 elementary school students (from 4th to 6th grade) drawn from 3 elementary schools in Cheong-ju city. The collected data were analysed by the frequency, percentage, Cronbach α and correlation using SPSSWIN program. The theoretical model was tested separately according to children’s gender and age using LISREL Ⅷ package. The result of this study implies that the effects of family emotional environment on the academic achievement of elementary school students mediated by self-efficacy and problem-solving be different according to children’s gender and age.
